Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the variation in brightness occurring in a difference in the state of a subject, image pickup condition, etc., and to form a good parallax string by providing the device with a level regulating means for regulating the luminance level of an image signal. SOLUTION: An illumination section 11 illuminates the subject 70 by plural lights at different light quantities from different directions. The image of image data D1 formed by an image pickup section 12 is the image having adequate shade. A light controller 14 controls the light quantity of the illumination section 11 in such a manner that the luminance level of the image data D1 attains an adequate value according to the state, image condition, etc., of the subject 70. In such a case, the light controller 14 controls the light quantity of the illumination section 11 in such a manner that the luminance level of the image data D1 formed by the image pickup section 12 attains an adequate value in accordance with the information on the brightness of the subject detected by a brightness detecting means in the prescribed position of the subject 70.
