PURPOSE: To easily focus a camera by providing two laser pointers at an image pickup part so that the optical axes of the respective laser pointers can not be parallel.
CONSTITUTION: At an image pickup part 1 provided with a camera 2, two laser pointers 3 and 3 are provided at least so that the optical axes can not be parallel each other. There is a pattern A of a two-dimensional data code in an object, and the pattern A has the marks of spot positions P1 and P2 on both sides. The image pickup part 1 is operated so that these mark positions can be irradiated with laser beams from the laser pointers 3 and 3. When the irradiated positions are coincident, the camera 2 at this position is focused to the pattern A. At such a time, a switch 5 is turned on, and the peculiar signals of the pattern A are transmitted to an image processor, analyzed and identified. Namely, the camera 2 can easily be focused by irradiating the prescribed positions with the laser beams from the image pickup part 1, and focusing is enabled without irradiating the object with laser beams.
