To provide a mechanism for transmitting image information from an image input device to a server device without bypassing an information processing apparatus.

An image input system comprises: an information processing apparatus 101; a server device 103 which performs communications with the information processing apparatus 101 via a wireless communication network 106 and the Internet 107; and an image input device 102 which performs communications with the information processing apparatus 101 via a local network 104 and performs communications with the server device 103 via the Internet 107. A Web browser 133 of the information processing apparatus 101 performs communications with the image input device 102 by relaying a scan command generated in the server device 103, and stores image information generated in the image input device 102 in the server device 103. When the image input device 102 can directly transmit the image information to the server device 103, the direct transmission is performed.
