When taking an identification photograph by a digital camera 1 as an image photographing apparatus, form data based on an input type of the identification photograph are selected from among form data stored in a built-in storage unit (not shown in a figure), and based on a focal distance depending on auto-focusing, optical zoom adjustment is performed on a lens optical system including a photographing lens 2. The selected form data are displayed on a display part 13 together with a through image, and a person combined with the form data is photographed, thereby generating image data for the identification photograph.
