An image processor applies image processing in which at least the emphasis degree of an emphasis coefficient indicated by an image F(I) acquired by image conversion based on a weighting function F(x) (conversion characteristic) becomes larger in the high luminance side than in the low luminance side, to a photographic image in which the high luminance side has contrast lower than that of the low luminance side which has photoelectric conversion characteristic consisting of two or more different photoelectric conversion characteristics (linear characteristic region and logarithmic characteristic region), and which is to be acquired by an image pickup sensor (photoelectric conversion characteristic consisting of solid-state image pickup element).
