A voltage detecting circuit 3 detects the charging voltage across a main capacitor 2 in which electric charges are accumulated, and the sensitivity of a CCD 103 for picking up an image is adjusted associatively with the detection result. A light emission circuit 4 is so controlled that, when the charging voltage across the main capacitor 2 exceeds a specified threshold, it becomes ready to emit electronic flash light.
