To reduce operation load when image pickup conditions are changed.
A focus control unit 56 automatically adjusts a specific photographing condition for the image of a portion, among images displayed on the display unit 18, which is displayed at a position detected by a touch operation on a touch panel 17 which detects contact of the display unit 18 by an object as a touch operation. A contact retention judgment unit 57 determines whether the touch operation detected by the touch panel 17 is continuing or not. An aperture adjustment unit 58 gradually adjusts other photographing conditions (in the present embodiment, an aperture value) while the touch operation is determined to be continuing by the contact retention judgment unit 57. When the touch operation is determined not to be continuing by the contact retention judgment unit 57, a storage control unit 52 exerts control so that the data of a shot image photographed by an image pickup unit 11 is recorded with the content of adjustment by the aperture adjustment unit 58 which was effective at a time when the determination was made.
