To provide an image pickup device which can suppress unevenness of exposure caused by a positional shift of an imaging element when exposed with a combination of an electronic anterior curtain shutter and a mechanical posterior curtain shutter.

An image pickup device 1 includes an imaging element 4 having an imaging area on which pixels are disposed, a camera shake correction part 12 for shifting the imaging element 4 in parallel with the imaging area in response to the camera shake detected by a camera shake detecting part 11, a mechanical posterior curtain shutter 3 traveling along the imaging area, a system control part 10 for sequentially resetting the charges of the pixels on the imaging area at the timing in response to a traveling characteristic of a mechanical posterior curtain shutter 3, and a system control part 10 and an image processing part 5 for controlling so that the image signal read from the imaging element 4 comes near the image signal obtained when the exposure time of all pixels are equal on the basis of the traveling characteristic of the posterior curtain and an amount of element shift in a traveling direction.
