Abstract:
PURPOSE:To enlarge a dynamic range by providing a medium, with which transmittance is changed in correspondence to incident light intensity on the image-forming surface of an image pickup part. CONSTITUTION:Since a photo-chromic glass board 13 is provided just in front of the image-forming surface, an object image is formed even on the surface of the photo-chromic glass board 133. The photo-chromic glass has a character, in which the transmittance goes to low in the part of large light quantity and reversely goes to high in the part of the small light quantity. Accordingly, for the photo-chromic glass board 13 where the object image is formed, the transmittance is low in the part where the light quantity from the object image is large, and the incoming light to reach an image pickup element is limited. On the other hand, in the part where the light quantity is small, the transmittance is high and the incident light is hardly limited. Then, without attenuating the signal of an area where the incident light quantity is small, the light quantity to reach a saturation level (Vsat) can be enlarged from L1 to L2. Thus, the dynamic range of the image pickup device can be enlarged.
