PURPOSE: To provide an image pickup device which can easily acquire an image pickup control constant in response to the switching of image pickup modes.

CONSTITUTION: In a 1st image pickup mode of low resolution, a synchronizing signal generator 18, a 1st color processing part 7, etc., are used via an image pickup sensor 3 including a certain number of pixels of high resolution. At the same time, an image pickup control constant is calculated at an image pickup control constant calculation part 22a and held or corrected at an image pickup control constant holding/correcting part 23. In a 2nd image pickup mode of high resolution, a 2nd synchronizing signal generator 19 and a 2nd color processing part 12 are used. At the same time, the held image pickup control constant is used as the image pickup control constant of the 2nd image pickup mode. Therefore it is not required to calculate again the image pickup control constant and the images can be instantaneously fetched in the 2nd image pickup mode when the 1st image pickup mode is switched to the 2nd one.
