PURPOSE: To enable a new function such as the electronic monitor of an image to be recorded or the instantaneous reproduction of the recorded image in compact camera conditions by displaying an image based on an image signal and a reproduced image while switching them to a recording mode and a reproducing mode selectively.
CONSTITUTION: While receiving NTSC signals at the time of recording and reproducing, a monitor signal generating circuit 44 generates a signal for forming a visible image on a monitor 45. When interlocked switches 28 and 29 for making possible both the monitors at the time of recording and reproducing show the time of recording, the output NTSC signal of an image signal processing circuit 9 is inputted to the monitor signal generating circuit 44, the monitor is possible, and the recording to an image recording medium 12 is simultaneously performed as well. At the time of reproducing, the interlocked switches 28 and 29 are changed over, the state of inputting the output NTSC signal of a video reproducing circuit 17 to the monitor signal generating circuit 44 is provided, the output of a magnetic head 11 is inputted to the video reproducing circuit 17, and the monitor of the reproduced image is possible.
