Abstract:

To improve the frame rate of the voltage read type image-pickup device.

Coupling transistors(TRs) 2 are used to connect storage capacitors 2 for each of two pixels which are adjacent to each other in a columnar direction. A charge coupling line 13 to which the coupling TRs 12 are connected in common is set to a high level, and vertical selection lines 7-1, 7-2,..., to which vertical selection TRs 4 are connected to read an image pickup signal of each pixel are set to a high level at an interval of one line. Then the coupling TRs 12 are conductive, the charges stored in the storage capacitors 2 of each pixel are averaged (combined), applied as a gate voltage to amplifier TRs 3 of pixels, connecting to the vertical selection lines set to a high level and a voltage corresponding to gate voltage apparatus on a vertical signal lines 9. The voltage which appeared on the vertical signal lines 9 is outputted as an image-pickup signal via a multiplexer 11. Thus, the image-pickup signals of each pixel are read all together, and the frame rate is improved.
