PURPOSE: To obtain a compact image pickup device, to realize speedy, labor- saving operation, and to obtain a sharp image by providing an optical system which displays the erect image and up/down and right/left inverted images of a CRT image.

CONSTITUTION: A subject person is image-formed on the front surface of a photographic part A and the subject is moved forth and back while the angle of irradiation between a couple of light beam generators 110 is held constant and photographed with fixed focal length. Individual information to be stored on an ID card is read to the CRT screen and framed and an item, etc., are projected through a screen; and the optical system is designed freely so that one of an erect image and up/down and right/left inverted images is selected on the CRT screen, thereby compacting the device. A development part B is unitized and can be taken out when repaired, and a protective film is formed on a print surface by a protective film forming part C. The photographic part A and developing part B are controlled automatically on optimum condition. Therefore, the ID card is manufactured by the compact device speedily through labor saving operation.
