To provide an image processing apparatus, a copying apparatus and control methods thereof in which secrecy of image data stored in a memory can be sufficiently protected.
The image processing apparatus includes an image reading part 201, an electronic sorter part 203, a printer part 204, and a CPU circuit part 205, and the CPU circuit part 205 is composed of a central processing unit (CPU) 206, a read only memory (ROM) 207, a random access memory (RAM) 208 and the like. It is confirmed which area of a hard disk 304b completely copied image data are located in and when there is no scramble stop request to these image data and an area to execute scramble processing of the image data is present in the hard disk 304b, image data stored in an area of the areas to execute scramble processing of image data are extracted and scramble processing is executed.
