To properly give visual effect to an object in a virtual viewpoint image.SOLUTION: Based on shape data indicating a three-dimensional shape of a foreground object located on a plurality of images based on image capturing by a plurality of imaging devices, an image processing apparatus generates effect data indicating three-dimensional visual effect corresponding to a specific part in the three-dimensional shape, and then, by using the shape data and the effect data, generates a virtual viewpoint image corresponding to a virtual viewpoint.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
