Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus for a vehicle and an image processing method for a vehicle, capable of properly compressing/decompressing images depending on the situations without the need for observing a photographed image.
SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus for a vehicle has a characteristic revision unit 25 for instructing revision of an image compression characteristic of a compressor 2 and revision of an image decompression characteristic of a decompressor 3 to the compressor 2 and the decompressor 3, the characteristic revision unit 25 has a road attribute detector 11 for detecting the attribute of roads, when the road attribute detector 11 detects a road to be a highway, the characteristic revision unit 25 instructs the characteristic revision to increase a spatiotemporal interleave amount and when the road attribute detector 11 detects a road to be a non-highway, the characteristic revision unit 25 instructs the characteristic revision to decrease the spatiotemporal interleave amount.
