To provide an image processing apparatus capable of executing erasure processing of image data in order to surely protect confidential information while keeping the productivity.
An image data erasure section applies erasure processing to image data stored in an HDD when at least either condition of a case of turning off a main power supply section by a user and a case of automatic turning-off of the main power supply section on the occurrence of abnormity. During the execution of erasure processing, other power supplies that those for an electric system required for the erase processing are turned off in order to prevent useless power consumption. When the erasure processing is finished, the power supply for the electric system required for the erasure processing is turned off and the image processing apparatus is completely stopped.
