Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the quality of image data by selectively reducing streak noise in image data.
SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus for reducing streak noise in image data includes a first smoothing processor for smoothing the image data by every predetermined length in the line direction of the streak noise to obtain a first signal having a signal fluctuation suppressed in the line direction, a second smoothing processor for smoothing the first signal in a direction different from the line direction to obtain a second signal having suppressed streak noise, a difference processor for finding a difference between the first and second signals to obtains a difference signal including mainly streak noise, and a noise subtractor for subtracting the difference signal from the image data to reduce the streak noise in the image data.
