The image processing device includes a prediction means for predicting the occurrence of an event in which the density of the color of the border portion between the halftone image and the high density image does not reach a predetermined density, based on density information on a color of the halftone image and density information on a color of the high density image when the halftone image and the high density image are adjacent to each other, a determination means for determining element information on a target to be updated from a plurality of pieces of element information on image quality when the prediction means predicts the occurrence of the event, and an updating means for updating an element content of the element information determined by the determination means with a predetermined element content.
