Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform halftone processing in consideration of observation directions at places on an output target surface so as to prevent colors from flowing to other observation directions and enable coloring output that achieves a large number of gradations and satisfactory color reproducibility.SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus comprises: acquisition means that acquires input image data for performing image formation on a surface having a periodic fine three-dimensional structure, and that describes colors for respective pixels in association with information on observation directions corresponding to the pixels; and halftone processing means that performs halftone processing in each of the observation directions on the input image data with the pixels in vicinity to each other in the same observation direction as vicinity pixels to generate image data to be used for image formation.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
