To provide an image processing and displaying device and a method for controlling the same, which are capable of easily judging whether or not there is an inappropriate section for puncturing in a puncture passage from a punctured position to a lesion center and in its neighborhood.
The device is equipped with a data storing means for storing a 3-dimensional volume data, a cross-sectional information generating means for generating the cross-sectional information by reconstructing the 3-dimensional volume data stored in the data storing means, an image displaying device for displaying the cross-sectional image of a subject based on the cross-sectional information generated by the cross-sectional information generating means, a locking means for locking the lesion center on the cross-sectional image displayed by the image displaying means as a rotation center, and an operating means which operates the cross-sectional image rotatably in an arbitrary direction by always displaying the cross-sectional image including the lesion center on the image displaying means.
