A host device 51 which is composed of a personal computer or the like and which functions as an image processor is provided with three software being application software with a hierarchical structure, an operating system (OS) and driver software including a halftoning (halftone processing) module 34. The host device 51 calculates the threshold C threshold used for error diffusion processing of a C component on the basis of, for example, the density value Mt of an M component in a pixel under consideration by the halftoning module 34 and compares a value C obtained by adding a prescribed value to the threshold C threshold with the density value Ct of the C component when error diffusion processing is applied to color image data as pseudo halftone processing.
