To provide an image processing system for a conference, which reduces burdens on conference attendees using image processing apparatus installed in a plurality of conference places and used for the same conference, and to provide an image processing apparatus to be suitably used in the system.

The image processing system for a conference includes: a plurality of image processing apparatus 21, 22 installed in a plurality of conference places respectively, interconnected via a network 25 and provided with a normal operation mode and a conference operation mode; an operation mode switching means 7 for switching between the normal and conference operation modes; and a specification means 7 for specifying one of the plurality of image processing apparatus to be used for the same conference. A control means 7 switches each specified image processing apparatus from the normal operation mode to the conference operation mode.
