To provide an image processing system and method for performing black-component replacement for a primary color system.

Parameter data are first received corresponding to parameters associated with black-component replacement for a primary color system. Alternative color profiles are then generated according to characteristics of the primary color system and the parameter data. Image data are then received, the image data being corresponding to an image and being defined in the primary color system. Renderings are then generated corresponding to the received image data, with each rendering uniquely corresponding to one of the alternative color profiles. Selection data are then received corresponding to a parameter, relating to the black-component replacement, selected in accordance with the generation of the renderings.
