To obtain a suitable normalized image of a subject by a suppressing excessive magnification, even when the distance to the subject to be normalized is large.
A target image extractor 22 extracts a target image from an image photographed by a camera 12. A target image trimmer 24 obtains the target image out of the photographed image. A size changer 26 changes the display size of the target image according to the distance to the subject. In the size change, a corrected normalized magnification is used. The normalized magnification is obtained by correcting the magnification of the target image in such a manner that the size is reduced by a correction width corresponding to the distance to the subject and the target image has a normalized size. As information indicative of the magnitude of the photographing distance to the subject of the target image, information indicative of the size of the target image is preferably used. A subject in a moving picture is tracked and normalized at various time points, using a normalized magnification corrected according to the distance to the subject at each time point.
