Abstract:

To shorten complex gradation conversion processing and time.

An imaging apparatus converts an image imaged by a lens system diaphragm 111 and a CCD 112 into an image signal by an A/D 113 and performs the gradation conversion processing in a gradation conversion processing part 106. The image is divided into at least not less than one sections by a section dividing part 103. An image signal converting part 104 performs image conversion processing on each section, with respect to a digital image signal corresponding to the section. A gradation conversion characteristics calculating part 105 determines the conversion characteristics of the gradation conversion processing, with respect to the image signal generated in the image signal converting part 104. The gradation conversion processing part 106 performs gradation conversion processing with the use of the conversion characteristics which are determined in the image signal converting part 104. Such a gradation conversion processing can also be applied to image processors other than the imaging apparatus.
