To provide an image processor which can specify a desired three-dimensional area without segmenting the volume data and its method.
In an image processor 1, when a user draws a two-dimensional path on a volume data displayed in a rendering image display section 12, an input interpretation section 11 supplies this two-dimensional path to a section for converting three-dimensional path 13. This section for converting three-dimensional path 13 adds depth to the two-dimensional path and converts it into a three-dimensional path. A constraint generating section 14 generates a binding point set, which indicates a foreground and a background as a constraint when performing segmentation. A segmentation execution part 15 performs segmentation of volume data, based on the binding point set.
