A storage part stores an image data set on a subject. An image processing part conducts image processing for the image data set and determines an identification threshold for identifying an identification target region contained in the image data set. The image processing part sets a plurality of provisional thresholds while being confined to a predetermined pixel value range. The image processing part conducts the threshold processing for a plurality of pixels in the image data set with each of the provisional thresholds to distribute the plurality of pixels into a first group corresponding to the pixel values equal to or larger than each of the provisional thresholds and a second group corresponding to the pixel values equal to or smaller than each of the provisional thresholds. The image processing part calculates information amount reference based on the first group and the second group concerning each of the plurality of provisional thresholds. The image processing part determines an identification threshold for identifying an identification target region based on a threshold change of a plurality of information amount references related to the plurality of calculated provisional thresholds.
