Title:
IMAGE PROCESSOR
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3311905
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide an image processor applying the Z buffer method which can perform the texture mapping and the glow shading with the depth information taken into consideration, can improve the data processing speed, and also can reduce the circuit scale.
CONSTITUTION: A texture data conversion part 2 calculates the largest conversion value of the depth information on a processing polygon vertex based on the depth information Zs that undergone the perspective conversion. Then the part 2 converts the conversion value Zs of the depth information on all vertexes into the conversion value Zs' of a prescribed number of valid bits having a reduced number of bits based on the largest conversion value. Then a pixel expansion circuit 4 applies the pixel expansion to the conversion value Zs' and both texture map data Mxs' and Mys' that underdone the perspective conversion by the value Zs'. A divider 33 divides the data Mxs' and Mys' that undergone the pixel expansion by the value Zs' to undergo the pixel expansion. Thus the texture mapping processing with the Z buffer method is applied to a three-dimensional image for the hidden-surface processing.
