To provide an image processor which estimates the occurrence of failures of a disk memory device and can perform the processing to decrease the faults caused by the failures by using a failure estimation means and a regulation means which regulates the use of a processing function when the occurrence of a failure is estimated.

A failure estimation means is prepared together with a regulation means which regulates the use of an image data processing function by means of a memory device when the occurrence of a failure is estimated. In such a constitution of this image processor, an image processing part 54 functions as a regulation means, an allocation means and a data transfer means to transfer the image data to a hard disk 53b, the allocation of storage areas, etc., in regard to a failure estimation function. The disk 53b estimates its on failure by the self-diagnosis, and the failure estimation information on the disk 53b is transmitted by a check command. In other words, the status of the disk 53b is sent to the part 54 by the check command.
