Abstract:
PURPOSE:To recognize an emphasized part even it is printed in one color by modifying a color, reading and detecting the emphasized part in a black original image and printing the emphasized part in a brighter color rather than other parts. CONSTITUTION:First image data is read in through a scanner 17, and stored in a multilevel buffer memory 18. If stores numerals of density levels about picture elements. The means lm of the density level of a part in which a character is written by picture elements, and the picture elements are compared with two preset levels. Through the comparison, such decision is made whether the character is black or in another color(red, for instance). If the character is black, the density level is set to the mean lm. If the character is red, the density level is set to lm+(c) by adding a preset value (c), and the character is emphasized. If the character is white, the density level is set to zero. The density level lm+(c) is set so that it will not exceed the highest density level. Thus a minor character can be denser than a majority and emphasized.
