Abstract:
To appropriately reduce show-through in an image obtained by reading a document.SOLUTION: An image reading device acquires the degree of variation of signal values in a predetermined area including a pixel of interest and the feature amount indicating the brightness of the predetermined area in image data obtained by reading a document. In regard to a plurality of index values corresponding to the plurality of degrees of variation different from one another, the image reading device determines a correction amount for the pixel of interest by using the index value corresponding to the degree of variation and the feature amount. The image reading device corrects a signal value of the pixel of interest by using the determined correction amount. A step of determining the correction amount for the pixel of interest includes: determining the difference between the feature amount and the index value corresponding to the degree of variation; adding the feature amount to a count value corresponding to the difference; when the count value after the addition exceeds a threshold, updating the index value; and determining the correction amount for the pixel of interest by using the index value after the update and the acquired feature amount.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 13
