PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase a reading speed without interrupting reading operation wastefully.
SOLUTION: When the amount of remaining image data not read out yet from an original document is not larger than the free space of an image memory, reading operation is continued without being interrupted even when the free space of the memory is not larger than a predetermined level that is set so that the image reading operation is to be interrupted.
