Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce time required for image reading processing of a plurality of manuscripts and also to reduce costs by eliminating a necessity to install a clutch or others devices.
SOLUTION: A carrier roller with a faster carrier speed than a supply speed of a paper supply roller carries manuscript paper supplied by the supply roller. A sensor detects the front edge and rear edge of the paper which has been carried. Based on the result of detection, an image sensor 9 for an image on the back side of the paper reads an image on the back side of the manuscript paper. An image sensor for an image on the front side 4 is placed at a fixed distance downstream from the image sensor 9 reads an image on the surface of the manuscript paper. Image data read by at least one of the image sensors 9 and 4 are stored in an image memory 55. A transmitting device 53 outputs the image data to a host computer 57.
