A panel-like light source 20 is arranged with a plurality of EL blocks 25a to 25g which comprise a plurality of linear electrodes 24a to 24d arrayed in a stripe state and flat plate electrodes 22 formed in the plurality of linear electrodes 24a to 24d, so as to oppose each other via an electroluminescence layer 23. The respective linear electrodes 24a to 24d of the different EL blocks 25a to 25g are electrically connected to each other by a wiring 28. When the driving drivers ICs 31, 32 emit reading light L from the panel-like light source 20, a drive current is applied to the linear electrodes 24a to 24d of the plurality of EL blocks 25a to 25g connected by the wiring 28, and the flat plate electrode 22 of the EL blocks 25a to 25g for emission.
