Abstract:
To provide an image reader in which stuffing of sheets discharged from a discharge port is suppressed.SOLUTION: A supply tray 91 comprises a movable plate 50 configured to move from a first position to a second position as a response to reduction in sheets SH supported by the supply tray 91. A discharging unit 60 is configured to comprise a discharge port 69 for discharging the sheets SH transported by the transportation guide 30 to a discharge tray 96, and to move from a third position to a fourth position as a response to reduction in the sheets SH supported by the supply tray 91. An image reader 1 further comprises a controlling part 7 controlling movement of the movable plate 50 and the discharging unit 60; and a sheet detecting part 150 detecting whether the sheets SH supported by the discharge tray 96 has height less than a predetermined height H1 or not. The controlling part 7 determines a timing of moving the discharging unit 60 from a fourth position to a third position based on detection result by the sheet detecting part 150.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 13
