An image recorder has a mode for performing detection of the end part of a recording paper prior to printing every page, after the recording paper reaching an accumulated conveyance amount as an oblique advancement converging point till the following page and print adjustment, and has a mode for performing detection of the end part of the recording paper only once of the following page only prior to printing, after the recording paper reaching the accumulated conveyance amount and the print adjustment, based on the set position (end part position) data of the recording paper. Normally, the top detection operation of the recording paper after cutting and the top print start position adjustment are not executed, and the adjustment on every specified length is only executed instead. When the control has a plurality of roll brake setting values, the setting is carried out accordingly or corresponding to margin-free printing.
