Abstract:
PURPOSE: To reduce a space required for a capping mechanism to make a device small in size.
CONSTITUTION: A device drive motor 107 is rotated clockwise. A paper feed device 4 is moved to a retracting position by an arm 105a. A solenoid 112 is turned ON to lift capping members 201-204 by an operating piece 113a. A recording head array 51 previously moved rightward is moved leftward to abut on an abutting part 201c. Then, the capping members 201-204 are pressed by the recording head array 51 and integrally moved leftward against the pressing force of a spring 120. With this movement, the capping members 201-204 are gradually raised along guide grooves 111a, 111b. When the capping member 204 moves leftward beyond points A3, B3, the capping members stop moving to cap nozzle parts 51K, 51C, 51M, 51Y, respectively.
