To provide an image recording apparatus and an image recording method capable of prolonging a recording time of an image as much as possible.SOLUTION: An image recording apparatus according to an embodiment includes a recording unit, a determination unit, and an operation control unit. The recording unit records an image captured by a camera mounted on a vehicle. The determination unit determines the degree of risk in which the vehicle is damaged during parking on the basis of the circumstance of a parking space. The operation control unit controls the motion of the recording unit during the parking in accordance with the degree of risk determined by the determination unit.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
