Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide means to prevent the occurrence of a failure in image forming operation due to thickening of ink stored in a tank caused by continuation of a situation in which an inlet port of the tank is opened in an image forming apparatus.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises: a tank in which an inlet port is formed; a cap which can be attached to the inlet port to keep the inlet port closed; a cap detection sensor; an ink remaining amount detection sensor; a recording part for recording an image on a recording sheet; and a control part for controlling a recording operation of the recording part. On the basis of detection signals of the cap detection sensor and the ink remaining amount detection sensor, the control part acquires a replenishment operation time taken since the cap was removed from the inlet port while ink remaining amount in the tank is less than a predetermined remaining amount until when the cap is attached to the inlet port after completing replenishment of ink into the tank. Then, on the basis of the replenishment operation time, it determines a waiting time which is required after the completion of the replenishment operation time before allowing the recording part to start printing.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
