Abstract:

To provide a hydrophilic pigment excellent in printing properties such as saturation, luster, concentration, light resistance, abrasion resistance and the like in forming images on coated paper such as luster paper, art paper and the like, and excellent in physical properties such as long term preservation, stability on a machine and the like, when brought to be an ink.

The hydrophilic pigment for recording images is expressed by general formula (1): [organic pigment]-[linking group]-[hydrophilic compound]. The [organic pigment] is a hydrophobic pigment having no hydrophilic group in itself; the [linking group] is a group linking the [organic pigment] with the [hydrophilic compound] and shutting down the effect of the [organic pigment]; and the [hydrophilic compound] is anionic, cationic and/or nonionic hydrophilic compound.
