PURPOSE: To obtain a consecutive sensor output for each line by applying a drive voltage pulse to each block with a delay by a prescribed period when the pulse is applied to a common electrode of each block.
CONSTITUTION: In a sensor comprising 4-blocks × N-elements, electrodes of each photoelectric conversion element are connected by a matrix wire at an interval of one block; connected at each of odd number block by wires L11-L1N and connected at each of even number block by wires L21-L2N. When switches X, Y are selected sequentially, a photo current is generated in conversion sets S11-S1N respectively, a charge in element capacitors C11-C1N is discharged accordingly and the charge is stored in stray capacitors LC11-LC1N and a voltage is generated in the wires L11-L1N. When the switch Y is sequentially closed at a point of time of a half of a charge application period of a 1st block, the charge in the capacitors C11-C1N is discharged and the charge/discharge current is converted to read a signal output of each element.
