To provide an image sensor capable of obtaining a high-quality image in simple configuration.
A pixel performs photo-electric conversion on incident light, accumulates an electric charge and outputs a pixel signal corresponding to the electric charge. A vertical scan circuit performs shutter processing for controlling the pixel to discharge unnecessary electric charges accumulated in the pixel, electric charge accumulation processing for accumulating in the pixel electric charges on which photo-electric conversion has been performed, for a predetermined exposure time, and read processing for outputting the pixel signal corresponding to the electric charges accumulated in the pixel during the electric charge accumulation processing. Furthermore, a control means discharges electric charges on which photoelectric conversion is performed in the pixel during a non-accumulation period other than a period in which shutter processing is performed, a period in which electric charge accumulation is performed, and a period in which the read processing is performed. The present invention may be applicable to CMOS sensors, for example.
