PURPOSE: To print the data which necessitates different emulations (EM) into the same page by setting an area of every plural emulations (EM) and a refer ence point for generating an image in the page, generating an image on a mem ory and enlarging, reducing it or bringing it to variable power.

CONSTITUTION: When printing data is sent to a controller 3 form a host com puter 2, when it is decided that a CPU 5 is in an EM composite mode by a command from an operating panel 1 or a computer 2, selection of EM is execut ed. In accordance with its EM, the printing data is converted to an image, and stored in a buffer memory 6. Subsequently, image data in the meory 6 is read out, sent to a printer engine 4 side as video data through a video buffer 8 and printing is executed. In this case, by using an EMA, the image data is written in the memory 6, and by leaving data A, switching the EMA to an EMB and writing image data B in a position of the data A in the memory, image data C is composed, and it is outputted an a printing image to the engine 4 through the back 38.
