An imaging apparatus includes an imaging device, a moving image part for generating a moving image, and a still image part for generating a still image. The moving image part includes a moving image processing part for processing picked-up image data taken in from the imaging device into moving image data, a moving image recording control part for controlling recording of moving image data, and a moving image recording part wherein moving image data are recorded. The still image part includes a still image processing part for generating still image data from picked-up image data taken in from the imaging device or moving image data, a still image recording control part for controlling recording of still image data, a still image recording part wherein still image data are recorded, and a sampling time setting part for issuing a trigger at intervals of a prescribed time. The still image processing part generates still image data on the basis of the trigger issued from the sampling time setting part.
