To provide an imaging apparatus successfully correcting luminance unevenness of an image that may be generated by an electronic front curtain.
This imaging apparatus is equipped with: an optical system configured to collect subject light; an imaging element having an electronic front curtain function, and configured to receive the subject light to generate an image signal; a storage means to store an emission pupil distance of the optical system and a correction amount of the emission pupil distance; a mechanical shutter for cutting off the subject light reaching the imaging element through the optical system; and a correction means to acquire the emission pupil distance of the optical system and the correction amount of the emission pupil distance from the storage means, to obtain a corrected emission pupil distance by using the acquired emission pupil distance of the optical system and the correction amount of the emission pupil distance, and to correct luminance unevenness of the image signal, based on the corrected emission pupil distance.
