To provide an imaging apparatus capable of executing self-timer imaging appropriately by avoiding focusing processing unintended for a photographer.
An imaging apparatus is provided which has an imaging control unit that executes imaging control by a first and a second self-timer modes which execute auto-focusing processing and imaging processing in this order, after an imaging start instruction; and in which a first period from the imaging start instruction to the execution of the auto-focusing processing in the first self-timer mode is shorter than a second period from the imaging start instruction to the execution of the auto-focusing processing in the second self-timer mode. The imaging apparatus, by this configuration, can execute the self-timer imaging appropriately by avoiding focusing processing unintended for a photographer.
