An imaging apparatus comprises imaging systems (11, 12), a display section 16, a program memory 23, and a CPU 21. The imaging systems (11, 12) image a subject and capture an image. The display section 16 displays continuous images captured by the imaging systems (11, 12). The program memory 23 stores exposure chart with one cycle of each of a plurality of power supply frequencies as a bottom shutter speed. The CPU 21 sets one of power supply frequencies 50 Hz and 60 Hz including the reference 60 Hz, controls exposure of the imaging systems (11, 12) according to the exposure chart in a recording preparation state of a still image to capture images, drives the imaging systems (11, 12) at a consecutive imaging speed corresponding to the set power supply frequency, makes a shutter speed in the imaging systems (11, 12) follow a corresponding value of the consecutive imaging speed, detects a scan line portion where luminance is changed between frames, in the captured continuous images, changes the set power supply frequency in accordance with a detection result and, when the set power supply frequency is not 60 Hz, performs resetting to the consecutive imaging speed corresponding to 60 Hz after the lapse of a predetermined time.
