To provide an imaging apparatus enabling a user to confirm different photographing-related information for every posture of the imaging apparatus without changing the posture of the imaging apparatus, and to provide a control method therefor.
The camera includes: a back display part 10 displaying information; a memory 37 storing different AF frame information for every posture of the camera; a system control circuit 39 controlling the respective parts of the camera; and a posture detection circuit 40 detecting posture of the camera. The system control circuit 39 controls the back display part 10 to simultaneously display AF frame information corresponding to a horizontal position of the camera detected by the posture detection circuit 40, which is stored in the memory 37, and AF frame information corresponding to a vertical-grip-up-position that is obtained by rotating from the horizontal position counterclockwise by 90° and a vertical-grip-down-position that is obtained by rotating from the horizontal position clockwise by 90°, which are stored in the memory 37.
