To provide an imaging apparatus that allows even a user not having technical knowledge and skill to easily capture video with a sense of depth and a sense of reality.
An imaging apparatus of the present invention comprises: a camera having an optical system whose imaging parameters, including at least a focal distance and an aperture value, are variable; information acquisition means that, as information on a display device used for displaying video captured with the camera, acquires information necessary for specifying the viewing distance of the display device and the viewing angle of the display device when viewed from the viewing distance; and control means that calculates the viewing distance and the viewing angle of the display device from the information of the display device acquired by the information acquisition means, and controls the imaging parameters of the camera so that the viewing angle of the camera fits the viewing angle of the display device and the depth of field of the camera includes the range from the viewing distance of the display device to infinity.
